Snake in the Bucket

The on-going Russian investigation under special prosecutor Robert Mueller is fast becoming the witch hunt of which President Trump spoke.  This so-called investigation is nothing more than a concerted effort to uncover a “smoking gun” or find the opportunity to create one and damage or end Trump’s political career.

Federal law (28 CFR 600.7), “prohibits Mueller from serving if he has a ‘conflict of interest.'” Representative Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) said “Even if there is an “appearance of a conflict,” it qualifies as a violation. The Code of Federal Regulations defines a conflict of interest as the following: “a personal relationship with any person substantially involved in the conduct that is the subject of the investigation or prosecution” (28 CFR 45.2).”

As Franks noted, the “language is mandatory, saying the employee ‘shall’ disqualify himself — not ‘may’ or ‘should.'”

Mueller and former FBI Director James Comey have had a long friendship at least since 2003. Comey was the Deputy Attorney General when Mueller was Director of the FBI.  The two had a close working relationship.

But there are other concerns about it being a skewed investigation.  Most of the lawyers hired by Mueller work for firms who donated thousands of dollars to the Clinton campaign, and before that donated exclusively to democrats.  Several news outlets carried Trump’s tweet and interviews where he questioned Mueller’s investigation because all the people he hired were Clinton supporters.  It questions Mueller’s ability to remain impartial in the investigation.

CNSnews reports former house speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) said at the law firm where Mueller worked before becoming Special Counsel, and from where Mueller recruited several attorneys to work with him, the “employees of the firm gave an astounding $326,798 to the Clinton campaign in 2016.”  Mueller has assembled “a political hit squad, plain and simple” said Gingrich.

James Comey admitted under oath he leaked information to the NYTimes, and it’s reasonable to believe he leaked information to other news outlets.  And if he’ll leak information to news outlets, why not foreign intelligence agencies?  His reliability in keeping sensitive information secret quickly bottoms out.

After eight years of scandals — the IRS scandal, the VA scandal, Fast and Furious, Benghazi, Hillary’s mishandling of classified information, abuses of our national security apparatus, etc. — nobody in the Obama administration went to jail or was seemingly held accountable.

Now the former FBI Director from 2001 to 2013, Robert Muller, is heading this investigation against our Republican President.  The term of the FBI director is usually 10 years, but Obama wanted Mueller to stay on for another two years, until 2013 when Comey replaced him.  Where was Mueller when all of the executive orders came out of the white house that undermined federal law and the Constitution in those 5 years from 2008 to 2013?

Why isn’t Mueller concerned about the appearance of hiring lawyers who are apparently biased against President Trump? They are known to be in alignment with all who are opposed to Trump.  Gingrich said “These people are not seeking truth in their investigation.”  That all should become inconsequential , because according to Franks, Mueller must resign.  Whether he will or not remains to be seen.

President Trump has the option of dismissing Mueller.  He doesn’t want to because the liberals will scream he’s obstructing the investigation as they did when Comey was dismissed.

But ask yourself:  If you picked up a bucket and a rattle snake was in the bottom of it, would you throw it out, or would you reach into the bucket just to see if it would bite you?
