Parts and Pieces

18 years ago I had back surgery.  After it was done and I was recovering, my surgeon asked me if I had suddenly developed any new desires or yearnings like gambling.  I said “No, why??” He said “Well, we use donated bone to fuse vertebrae together, and we never really know where it comes from.”  Of course he was kidding.  But I had three vertebrae fused to gain some much-needed relief from pinched nerves due to herniated discs. 

Some time ago I read about a man who had a complete hand transplanted.  It was amazing.  I wondered if the guy was a piano player, one hand would be playing gospel while the other hand would be playing honky-tonk! 

Of course that’s silly.  But what if the guy that donated the hand was a Born-again Christian, and the guy that received the hand wasn’t?  At the rapture, is that one hand going to suddenly be heaven-bound, and the rest of that guy pulled along with it?

Again, that’s a silly thought.  But these thoughts come from those silly scenarios:

Everyone is going to appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ, (however they get there).  It doesn’t matter what shape (or un-shape) your body is in, God knows where it all is!! 

Think about this:  Of the 7.8 BILLION people on the planet earth, you are unique.  There is only ONE you, even if you are a twin, triplet, quadruplet, and all those other words that describe multiple birth siblings.  YOU are still unique! 

Your fingerprint is yours.  And on the inside, your DNA is YOURS.  No one else has it, no one else matches perfectly.  There are genetic markers that belong only to you. 

7.8 billion.  1 in 7.8 billion.

And all the people whose bodies have been destroyed one way or another, by fire, explosion, disease, whatever, God KNOWS down to the molecule, down to the atom what is YOURS. 

Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you are nobody, that you are not significant, that you don’t matter, because you matter so much to God that He knows you down to the smallest particle HE created, AND He knows everything else about you.  Counting the number of hairs on your head is pretty easy to Him!

You have been mysteriously and wonderfully made, knitted together in the womb, your Being created in the Image of God your Creator.

And He knows you.  He can pick you out of the ashes, the fire, the ocean, and indeed He can save you from the pits of Hell if you ask Him.

There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus; for He desires everyone to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of God the Father.

 While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  He died for us as a man, to know our pain, physical, emotional, and spiritual.  And He died for us as our Saviour, defeating eternal Death, making a Way that leads to eternal life.

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.. Acts 4:12

That’s Jesus.
