Location, Location, Location

That famous mantra of real estate agents – “location, location, location” – has been around a long time.  Whether business or home, the location matters.  Close to high traffic areas for businesses, close to schools or groceries for homes (for some people); but it also entails getting into a neighborhood that’s considered safe and away from “high crime” areas, high traffic or busy streets, and being near a park is a plus to some.   And some people want to live close to where they work.

Sometimes it means moving to another town or city, even another country.

But there’s another “location” we can find ourselves in, no matter where we actually reside:  That is asking God to put us into His family and His Kingdom:

11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
    so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
    so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

When we become Children of God through accepting and believing in Jesus Christ, we become members of an eternal  neighborhood that is everlasting.  The vast expanse of the universe is not enough to contain God’s love for His children, and He removes our sin “as far as the east is from the west” and forgets it.  We are redeemed.  (You can spend your entire life traveling east, and you will NEVER find yourself suddenly going west.)

Oh, He knows us, and He knows we may commit sin while on this earth, but He has given us the Gift of Jesus, who for a time, after living on earth,  is now at a specific location – at the Right Hand of God (Romans 8:34; Ephesians 1:20; Colossians 3:1; Hebrews 1:3; 1 Peter 3:22) where He intercedes for us.  Not only that but He has sent us The Helper – the Holy Spirit – the Third Person of the Trinity – to teach us and guide us (John 14:26).

And the Holy Spirit seals us when we believe in Jesus, and marks us as a Child of God.  (Ephesians 1:12-14).

As a child of God, we have a place prepared for us.  A new location!

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.  (John 14)

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.   And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.   (Revelation 21)

Location, location, location.
