What’s the use? What difference does it make? The world is going to hell in a hand basket, people are rejecting God and everything decent and good, and it seems those who are in authority in our government have completely lost their common sense and are moving us toward chaos and destruction!
Lawlessness abounds in every part of the land, even the small towns and cities are suffering from the same afflictions as major cities: Murders, riots, violent protests in the name of one movement or another. The people of law enforcement are demonized, vilified, attacked, and murdered somewhere every day.
Our young are being taught that America is the world’s Oppressor, an invader of countries only for financial gain and control of oil or strategic armed positions in the world. They are taught that America was “never great” because of past mistakes, even though those mistakes have largely been corrected and resolved. They are taught that our past shows our wayward path through history, and those things, like slavery, condemn us forever and can never be forgiven.
So what difference does it make if we keep fighting those things that we know are wrong? What use is it to keep on “keeping on” in our stand for real justice, real equality, real peace?
The way things are, why should anyone care??
Because…… we must.
If we believe America is the greatest country in the world, in spite of the imperfections that some are so quick to point out, then we must stand and say so.
If we believe that all people, including our families, our kids, our grandkids, friends, and loved ones deserve the same freedom and opportunity we have had up to now, we must say so.
If we believe the world still needs an America that defends Freedom, we must say so.
More than that, we must realize that God in His Divine Providence has blessed America up to now, and if we do not return to honoring Him first in this country, then He will chastise us as a nation just as He has done throughout history.
This is the lesson our young people need to learn. This is the lesson we all need to learn.
8Let all the earth fear the Lord;
let all the people of the world revere him.
9For he spoke, and it came to be;
he commanded, and it stood firm.
10The Lord foils the plans of the nations;
he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
11But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.
12Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people he chose for his inheritance.
16No king is saved by the size of his army;
no warrior escapes by his great strength.
17A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;
despite all its great strength it cannot save.
18But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
19to deliver them from death
and keep them alive in famine.
20We wait in hope for the Lord;
he is our help and our shield.
21In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
22May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,
even as we put our hope in you. —Psalm 33
1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. – Hebrews 12
Stand strong. Be courageous. Keep the faith.
