Today, many young people believe – wrongly – that socialism is the answer to America’s problems. They believe that things like “Medicare for All” and “The Equality Act” and the “For the People” act are going to resolve the current issues of racism, recover the economy, and make things better for American citizens.
What America faces today is not a race problem, an economic problem, not even a pandemic problem. What America faces today is a spiritual problem.
When I was 14, I had the opportunity to attend the Missouri Freedom Forum at the Mexico Military Academy in Mexico, Missouri. It was a forum to teach young people the real issues and evils of communism and socialism, and how it ruins and destroys the lives of millions of people world-wide.
Even Karl Marx called “religion” the “opium of the masses” and he sought to use it to control the people by infiltrating the churches with pastors sympathetic to the State who ‘tickled the ears’ of the people to make them believe that submitting to the government’s demands was submitting to God. It was (is) a perversion of the Apostle Paul’s directions to the church in Rome that believers should submit to the government since government is ordained by God. And indeed it is, as long as government adheres to God’s Law. In other words, socialism, and communism, dictate that government is god and demands full obedience, no questions asked, and no free will or freedom of choice.
Even God, the Creator of the universe and all things in it, allows mankind free will and freedom of choice. While the choices God gives us have eternal consequences, the choices government gives us never will. It is better to follow God and not man.
Somewhere along the way the “government” has become our common sense: Wear your seat belt, wear a helmet, drive slower — when did we become so reliant on the government to protect our own lives?
The fact is, when we are told what to think, believe, and do by government leaders, we need to weigh those commands with the Commands of God. We should always “test the spirit” of instruction and guidance to determine if they are sound according to God’s Word.
And that’s the point: People don’t know God’s Word, and they don’t know God, and they lack spiritual discernment. Spiritual discernment only comes from knowing God through Jesus His Son.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1)
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7)
