2020 has been a year of questions, and most of them are about the pestilence that is walking the entire world, crossing all the boundaries that make us all different on the outside. But the disease affects us all the same way, that is, the biological process that is the infection does not differ from one person to the next.
Just as God created us all – everyone of us – in the same image, HIS image. What’s on the outside makes us look different, and biologically, some of what’s on the inside is also different, in fact, unique. Our DNA makes every single one of us identifiable in a unique way. And let’s not forget our fingerprints. Fingerprints and DNA are unique for every single person on the planet.
Think about that for a moment. That’s about 7.8 BILLION people!
But on the inside we have another very common biological characteristic: The color of our blood. No human has green blood, or pink, or yellow. It’s all the same. Homo Sapiens all bleed red.
This year we are in the midst of a lot of uncertainty and speculation. A lot of people are asking “What in the world is going on??” “Why is this happening?” Even people of faith are having some weary days and long dreary nights. It is not so uncommon these days to think we’ve reached the end of our rope. If there’s a light at the end of this tunnel, it’s a long tunnel!
But be encouraged. Jesus cares! He knows how we feel.
Oh, yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.
The Gaither Homecoming Choir did a wonderful rendition of this old gospel hymn. Take a few minutes and worship as they sing.
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.– 1 Peter 5:6-7
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles… 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Never, ever, ever, doubt it: Jesus cares for you!
