The Older I Get

(as sung by Amos Raber)

The older I get,
The more I think
You only get a minute, better live while you’re in it,
‘Cause it’s gone in a blink;
And the older I get,
The truer it is
It’s the people you love, not the money and stuff,
That makes you rich.

And if they found a fountain of youth,
I wouldn’t drink a drop and that’s the truth;
Funny how it feels I’m just getting to my best years yet.

The older I get,
The fewer friends I have,
But you don’t need a lot when the ones that you got
Have always got your back.
And the older I get,
The better I am
At knowing when to give,
And when to take a stand.

And if they found a fountain of youth,
I wouldn’t drink a drop and that’s the truth;
Funny how it feels I’m just getting to my best years yet
The older I get.

And I don’t mind all the lines
From all the times I’ve laughed and cried;
The souvenirs and little signs of the life I’ve lived.

The older I get,
The longer I pray,
I don’t know why, I guess that I’ve
Got more to say.
And the older I get,
The more thankful I feel
For the life I’ve had, and all the life I’m living still.

“…But he (Jesus) has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. -Hebrews 9:26-28

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. -John 3:16-18
